About Art 3This is an 8th grade class. Students are identified by their 6th grade Art Teacher to skip Art 1 and take Art 2 as a 7th grader. In this class students are in art all year and they create a body of work consisting of at least 10-12 works of art depending on size of work.
Student work will be used to enter various art shows, as they learn what it is like to be a working artist. All of their work is based on a theme/concentration that they choose and in any medium they want. Students will also have a chance to meet current working artists to learn how they work and out themselves out in the art world. |
Art History & Artists |
We are familiar with some artist names from popular images and movies (ex. Leonardo Da Vinci, Vincent Van Gogh, etc.). It is important for students to understand where art comes from and how artists get their ideas. Students get introduced to past and current artists while getting introduced to their projects.
In the past I have had current working Artists come in and talk to our students about their journey in the arts. |
Art Shows |
Art 3's work is displayed and represented in several art shows. In the past their work was seen at Gallery Night, the Bridgeview Library, in the halls of the school, and in the 4x5 art show. They entered the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition where we have had 3 Silver Key winners, and 7 Honorable Mentions! We also have had winners in the Illinois Art Education Student Show and 4x5 show. Art 3 is looking to do big things in the coming future! Stay tuned for their upcoming shows!
